The Middle School Counseling Program

The Middle School Counseling Program is designed to focus on improving school climate and increasing academic performance and improving attendance. School-wide programs focus on bullying prevention, tolerance and respect.  Grade level programs focus on career and college readiness, study skills, goal setting and time management.

List of comprehensive services we provide, aligned with best practices:

  • Progress Monitoring (Academic/Social)
  • Classroom Guidance (Push In)
  • Small Group Counseling*
  • Individual Counseling*
  • Transition from M.S. to High School
  • Transition from 5th to Middle School
  • Parent/Teacher Meetings (as needed)
  • Parent Communication
  • Every 5 weeks via Progress & Report Cards

*Counseling in the school setting is brief in nature. Services that run 4-6 weeks may require parental consent. Group/Individual counseling can include but is not limited to, academic improvement, social skills, divorce, grief/loss, crisis intervention, etc.

Attendance Protocol

Counselors utilize attendance data to monitor attendance. 5 Days Absent = Parent contact via mail and/or telephone. Individual and/or group counseling interventions with targeted student(s).

Academic Protocol

Counselors utilize quarterly report card data to begin academic improvement interventions. Students are then monitored throughout the year individually and/or in small groups.

Good To Go Tracker

*(G2G) Good to Go-College & Career Ready Grad Tracker is the “snapshot” data sheet used to share with students and parents regarding grades & attendance.
