Solar Eclipse Information | Calendar Reminder | April 2024

A will occur in our area on Monday, April 8, 2024. A solar eclipse is a rare phenomenon when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun in a path that partially or completely blocks the sun’s light.

In our area, the moon will cover about 93% of the sun at the peak of the
eclipse. According to a  that is searchable by ZIP code, the event will begin at approximately 2:11pm, peak at 3:25pm, and conclude at 4:36pm.

During the entire eclipse, it may be tempting to look directly at the sun to see the changing phases, however, you should never look directly at the sun without protective eyewear, specialized for solar viewing. Looking directly at the sun without protective eyewear can cause permanent eye damage. Additionally, please use extra caution while driving or walking as a pedestrian, as fellow drivers may become distracting trying to get a glimpse. Driver's eyes should always remain on the roadway. The safety of our scholars was at the forefront of this decision, as it is set to occur in our area at dismissal times. More information about timing and safety can be learned by visiting the .
